Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW) are the means to the end.  EDW implementations produce limited return on investment until the end-consumers actually consume the data. But data consumption is only the beginning to true BI. The goal of any EDW/BI investment must be to turn the data into actionable information that is intuitively delivered to provide insight to the business community.
